Introduction to “Heart to Heart”
Is your life hectic? Is your schedule over-crowded with activities? Do you often wonder about how you will get it all done? Have you questioned if you have time for a retreat like this? Is there so much activity and noise in your life that you have difficulty taking time to hear God’s voice? Then you are in the right place!
This retreat is not merely about passing along information. My prayer is that it will provide a much-needed opportunity for you to slow down and spend time connecting with God – that it will be a true RETREAT for you. But in the process, I also hope to pass along to you techniques that you can build into your daily life – where NOISE is often the loudest. They can be especially helpful at those moments when you find yourself feeling stressed or worried. I pray that our time together will have an ongoing significance that is truly transformative.
Heart to Heart is a retreat that flows out of my own struggles with noise and busy schedules. The things that I share have helped me to slow down and to build into my life sacred rhythms and sacred spaces that help me to stay connected to God’s heart, so that I can better deal with the “tyranny of the urgent” that clamors to distract me from living from an eternal perspective.
The disciplines I describe are designed to help us as God’s people grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. True transformation is God’s work – it happens from the inside out! Life transformation is the work of the Spirit. When kept in their proper role, these disciplines can become tools by which the Spirit of God can work His transformation of our hearts and minds! (see Romans 12:2)
May the Lord bless you in your continued journey of faith! May He lead you out of the shallows and into the deeper places! Slow down…be aware of what is going on around you and within you. Be still and know that He is God!
Pastor Loy Schlote <><
“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus as the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him, established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Col 2:6-7
“Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather, train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” 1 Tim 4:7-8
